Event description

Homelessness is growing in Queensland.

People who face chronic homelessness experience entrenched disadvantage and have been failed over their lifetime by the complex systems of our society and economy - including the safety nets intended to keep them afloat.

The absence of support, histories of trauma, coupled with physical/mental health issues and problematic substance use, create further barriers to accessing and maintaining social housing, and these conditions continue to embed this cohort in a place of homelessness, helplessness and insecurity. The need for a targeted, dignified solution has never been clearer.

This seminar delves into Supportive Housing as a solution for chronic homelessness by presenting a case for change that illuminates the various benefits not only for the community and those facing chronic homelessness, but the economic benefits for the public sector.

Our expert panel will be presenting this groundbreaking case:

  • Rebecca Roberts - Partner, Deloitte
  • Liesda Marsdon - Associate Director, Deloitte
  • Prof Cameron Parsell, University of Queensland
