Event description

Dear Parents

We are excited to announce that Paul Litherland from Surf Online Safe SOS (surfonlinesafe.com.au) will be returning to the College. Paul previously presented to our Year 7 students earlier this year, and he will be speaking to our Years 5 and 6 students on 7 November.

With nearly 20 years of experience working at the frontline of online crime, Paul has spent much of his career focused on juvenile victims and their families. Since 2008, he has used his expertise to create highly informative presentations about the risks and dangers of the online world.

After leaving the Western Australia Police in 2014, Paul has become one of the nation's most recognised and highly awarded educators in the fields of Cyber Safety and Internet Awareness. His dedication to the cause was recognised when he was named the 2022 WA Australian of the Year.

We are pleased to invite you to a Parent Seminar with Paul on 7 November from 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm in the Community Room. Tea and coffee available from 6.00 pm.

During the seminar, Paul will cover:

  • Frontline Knowledge: Insights from his 14 years of experience with juvenile internet use.
  • Digital Citizenship: Where kids are going online, the apps they are using, and the information they are sharing.
  • Online Footprint: How easy it is to find kids online and how they can reduce their risk.
  • Social Networking: How the top five apps work and strategies to manage their impact.
  • Sextortion: Current trends, risks, and statistics regarding this growing issue.
  • Tips & Tricks: Practical advice on using software and hardware to keep an eye on your children's online activities.

There will also be time for a Q&A session.

Please follow the link to RSVP for this important event.

Kind regards,
Joanna Ryan and Julie Schubert
