Event description

Margaret River's reputation for its formidable waves and sheer energy remains unmatched, continually testing the mettle of the world's finest surfers. Year after year, champions confront towering walls of water, etching their legacies into surfing history.

In recent times, Party Wave has been forging its own path, like the rhythmic pulse of seasonal swells, the anticipation and excitement around our Surf Pro Party 2024 is rising! No need for the dawn patrol – mark your calendars for the opening weekend of the contest, IT'S ONNN, Saturday, April 13th, from 5pm till late.

The forecast looks slightly different this year, as we see a change of location to accommodate the overwhelming demand, promising our most epic event yet. Yonder, hailed as the home of rock 'n roll in the region, is now the new home of our festivities. Taking over the car park allows us to welcome more Party Wavers than ever before, doubling capacity and playing music louder and longer into the night. It's a partnership long overdue – renowned for their discerning taste in music and delectable cocktails, aligning with Yonder was a natural fit for our fourth year. Just like a Sharpeye board beneath Jack Robinson's feet, it's a match made in heaven.

To add an extra layer of nostalgia and fun, we're introducing an '80s surf theme. Dust off your vintage surf brands – Rip Curl, Quiky, Billabong – or dive deeper into your wardrobe for treasures like Hang Ten, Piping Hot, and Body Glove. Think corduroy and neon colours! Don't have time to change out of your wetsuit after a day of pumping surf? No problem – '80s surf history was all about bold, bright wetsuits. Expect classic surf films projected onto the big screen, setting the mood for the evening, embrace your inner Bodhi or Johnny Utah.

The only thing more radical than the surfing is our lineup:

KING BLUE

KB emerged onto the indie pop scene in 2020, this dynamic quintet wasted no time making their mark, captivating audiences with their irresistible blend of indie rock and pop sensibilities. Their meteoric rise was fueled by an impressive repertoire of earworms, crafted with a maturity that belied their relative youth in the industry. Now, armed with a wealth of experience and a hunger for innovation, King Blue stands poised on the cusp of a new era. With a string of fresh music on the horizon, the band is ready to carve out their own unique niche in the indie pop landscape.

BAD BOOGEY

This 5-piece welcomes you into Funklandia, inviting audiences to lose themselves in a world of rhythm and visceral funk. With a melody reminiscent of 70’s disco, touching on the deep sounds of soul and blues, mixed together with influence from funk, rap, and rock. CHIC, meets Anderson Paak, meets Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Bad Boogey conjures an intoxicating sonic concoction that will stank your face.

LAïLA

Laila Grew up amongst the techno scene in Brussels, however Laila's family roots are in Morocco. You can expect to hear these influences translated through her musical journey. She likes to explore a wide range of beats, especially Tribal, creating an energetic, magical and spicy voyage. Laila guides your soul and body on a journey into other dimensions, allowing deep release and healing with her sacred and intentional tribal music.
