Always Live, Crown Ruler, College Of Knowledge Records & PBS 106.7FM present: Education & Recreation launch party at Northcote Theatre on Saturday November 12th.In celebration of Surprise Chef’s third album ‘Education & Recreation’ on New York’s iconic soul label Big Crown Records, we’re taking over the newest poppin’ space in the North which made its hefty return in 2022 after previously being “the most electrified building in Northcote over 100 years ago”.

Equipped with expansive dancefloors, Northcote Theatre is perfectly apt for the hedonistic pleasure resulting from experiencing the best in soul, funk and beyond at the moment.Cutting laps and setting new personal bests will be a heavy cast of heads concerned with high-class soulful music: Ella Thompson, Karate Boogaloo, Tiana Khasi, Miss Goldie (PBS) and Shio (PBS). Plus keeping the food stalls heaving from everybody’s favourite A1 Bakery and all-encompassing visuals by 0123K.

This event will take place on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present; their culture and language; and ongoing resistance against colonialism since 1788. Always Was, Always Will Be.
