Survival of the Fittest: Learn about Marine Pest Species through Gameplay

Do you know how to spot an invasive paddle crab, or what to do if you see one?

Join us to explore the moana and learn why invasive pest species are a threat to our coastal ecosystems.

Learn without getting wet, with Marine Invaders, an interactive game where kids aged 7 and above, with reading and maths skills, work together in groups for a game of survival of the fittest, and face pest species again native species. It’s a hands-on, engaging way for tamariki to learn about the ocean, teamwork, and protecting Aotearoa’s unique marine environment.

Run by a local scientist and game developer, Elizabeth Copeland, from the Coastal Marine Field station at The University of Waikato Tauranga.
