Presented in collaboration with the Noosa Festival of Surfing and the Noosa International Surfilm Festival, this special event celebrates the healing power of nature, surfing, and community through impactful films, live music, and meaningful conversations.

A moving short film by Noosa local Danielle Tomlinson, set in the iconic Little Cove and the Noosa Hinterland (Cooran). Danielle’s journey of recovery after a traumatic brain injury highlights her resilience and passion for surfing. This intimate story reflects the incredible healing potential of surfing and community. - "Surviving to Thriving" (Feature Film)
A breathtaking tale of Byron Bay surfer Karin Ochsner as she overcomes immense challenges, including past traumas, a rare immune illness, and even a heart-pounding shark encounter. Her journey, beautifully captured, is a testament to the transformative power of nature and the support of her surfing community.
Featuring interviews with legends like Delta Kay, Pauline Menczer, Kieren Perrow, Joel Fitzgerald, Layne Beachley, and Joel Paxton, this film will inspire and uplift.

💬 Panel Discussion – Insights and Inspiration 9pm - 9.30pm
After the films, join an engaging panel discussion featuring:
- Karin Ochsner – Star of Surviving to Thriving
- Danielle Tomlinson – Creator of Tonic Blue and brain injury survivor
- Damien Cole – Former Surfrider Foundation President, sharing his recovery from a brain injury after a devastating car accident in Los Angeles.
These incredible individuals will share how surfing and nature became their lifeline, helping them not only recover but thrive.

The cinema bar will be open with a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available throughout the evening. Drinks can also be taken into the theatre. There will be an intermission halfway through the feature film for you to refresh and relax.
