    Come along to this fascinating session to explore the real stories behind commonly known nursery rhymes, and the glimpses these verses can offer into England's 13th-18th century history.

    Why was the baby in a treetop? Who was Georgie Porgie, the little boy blue and Mary Mary? And is it true Little Jack Horner's family continued to enjoy the plum property he took from those intended for Henry VIII, until the 20th century.

    Susan will talk about the rhymes she explores in her book Rhyme and Reason: English History through Nursery Rhymes that show how parliament and king battled over taxation, the authority of kings, and religion. Copies of the book will be available for purchase on the day.
