Susea Spray - A Big Blue Boat - Storytime in Green Square
Event description
Join us for a rollicking story time with Susea Spray and her Big Blue Boat. Subject to weather we will set up in Green Square just across the way from the bookshop.Â
Written for 4–8-year-olds, A Big Blue Boat is a fun, rollicking frolicking tale about a boat, a girl, and the sea.  This is an interactive story that children love reading along with. Its rhythm, rhyme and repetition make the book perfect for pre and early readers.
Seas are calm as a Big Blue Boat and her Captain head out for a day’s sail. Then winds strengthen and the sea starts to rollick and frolic. What will A Big Blue Boat and her captain do? Will they find a safe haven in time?
Children will love Lesley Cybulka’s bright, coloured illustrations that bring the story to life.
About Susea: A retired classroom teacher and professional photographer, author Susea Spray now lives the life of a cruising sailor. She and her husband don’t have a brick-and-mortar house. Instead, their home is a traditional big, blue sailing boat. After four years of preparation, they departed Adelaide, South Australia in 2013. In the boat, they have sailed three oceans, seen amazing animals, and visited incredible places. The Big Blue Boat now lives in Europe. Northern hemisphere summers find Susea and her husband on board, continuing their journey through the rivers and canals of Europe. The sailing journey has been the inspiration for Susea to at last find her writing voice for children. During the time of Covid and its restrictions, unable to sail, Susea was at last able to put pen to paper and the rhythmic A Big Blue Boat series was born!
