Sustainability in the Science curriculum with VCAA - Sustainability in Schools Month
Event description
Sustainability in the Science curriculum with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority
Hosted by Sustainability Victoria’s ResourceSmart Schools program, Sustainability in Schools Month is a free online professional learning series taking place every Thursday in November 2024.
The Science curriculum covers key sustainability concepts, including the causes, effects, and mitigation of climate change, and the production and management of resources both renewable and non-renewable.
Released in June 2024, the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 (introduction to Science) drives teachers and students to experience the wonder of understanding the world scientifically and sets the foundations for science in senior secondary years (VCAA, 2024).
Join Maria James, Science Curriculum Manager at the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), as she provides attendees with:
- An overview of the 4 organising ideas in the sustainability curriculum: systems, worldviews, design, and futures.
- Examples of how sustainability is embedded within the science curriculum.
