Sustainable Craft: Necklace & Dangles with Paper Beads (bonus porcelain clay beads)
Event description
Join us for a sustainable crafting workshop and learn how to create amazing beads in an infinite number of shapes, colours and sizes made from wastepaper. The appearance of the beads depends on the paper used and the varnish finishes.
Cost: $10 or $15 for two people (use code SUSTAINABLE*TWO )
The purpose of these activities is to demonstrate how to craft without spending a fortune and using what people may already have at home, including “rubbish” that would be sent to landfill.
We are all familiar with the 3Rs Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose. Shopping in person or online results in large amounts of packaging, much of which ends up in landfill as it is not or cannot be recycled. Many of us may try to reduce the paper and plastics in our purchases and try to recycle or repurpose what we cannot avoid, however we still throw many materials into our bins.
What to bring along on the day if you have them:
- Old magazines, books, wrapping paper etc
- Scissors (not best dress making)
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Glue stick
- Nail varnish
- Bamboo kebab skewer
- Wooden tooth picks
