What does it mean to build a creative practice that can actually last?
This workshop explores sustainability through multiple lenses—environmental, material, emotional and structural. We’ll be joined by a panel of artists and organisers who think critically and creatively about how to sustain both their work and themselves.
From working with low-impact materials to setting boundaries that protect your energy, we’ll discuss what sustainability looks like in real life—not just in theory.
We’ll cover:
Environmental sustainability in arts practice (materials, waste, energy use)
Alternative economies, upcycling, and resource-sharing
Emotional sustainability: burnout, overextension, and rest
How to build practices that honour your body, time, and community
Long-term thinking for artists working outside dominant systems
Whether you’re feeling stretched thin or just want to reimagine how you work, this session will offer both practical insight and space for reflection.
Presented as part of OFFICE HOURS at Unassigned Gallery. 7 days of hands-on workshops, skill sharing and knowledge building for creatives.
