Sustainable Queenstown Affordable Housing Forum
Event description
Without affordability, there is no sustainability.
Affordable housing in Queenstown is a challenge we must overcome - but how will we do it?
Join Sustainable Queenstown's monthly Green Drinks for a lively discussion about the future of sustainable and affordable housing in Queenstown. The forum will feature two key change-makers who will offer their ideas, their challenges and their hopes for a more sustainable and secure housing future for Queenstowners.
Featuring:
🏠 Julie Scott - The Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust. Julie joined QLCHT in 2007 and has an extensive understanding of housing issues in the District. The unique problems of the Queenstown Lakes has led to the Trust being renowned for its innovative programmes. To this end, Julie has led a team which has successfully implemented two assisted home ownership programmes, rent-to-buy, affordable rental, first home buyer’s home loan programme and contracted to central Government to deliver Public Housing.
🏠 Árbol Eco Homes (energy-efficient pre-fab homes). "Our goal is to positively impact our environment, setting standards for homes where families make decades worth of memories. Árbol was founded out of frustration with the building standards in New Zealand that have led to cold, damp, and expensive to run homes. We are architecturally designed, energy-efficient, environmentally responsible Prefab and Modular NZ homes, built from European low-energy to Passive House standards."
The evening will include presentations from our speakers as well as a lively moderated discussion hosted by Sustainable Queenstown's Scott Kennedy. There will be opportunities for audience questions as well as post-event networking and social connections, which we all love about Green Drinks.
