Speakers

Stan Krpan PSM FAICD - CEO, Solar Victoria

An experienced CEO with a well-regarded track record successfully delivering high-profile government programs and leading reforms in a number of sectors including renewable energy, sustainability, health and safety, environmental regulation and the law.

Prior to his current role, Stan was the CEO of Sustainability Victoria for eight years, where he led a significant expansion and grew the agency’s footprint and impact in the areas of climate change, renewables, energy-efficiency, and waste and recycling.

Stan has undertaken high-profile reform roles for the Victorian Government, as Co-Chair of the Building Victoria’s Recovery Taskforce, commissioned by the Treasurer and Minister for Planning to advise on Victoria’s post-coronavirus recovery in the building, construction and development sectors, planning reform and fast tracking of planning decisions. He was the inaugural CEO of the Victorian Cladding Taskforce, advising Government on the extent and response to combustible cladding in the construction sector. In 2010, Stan undertook an independent review of EPA Victoria’s compliance and enforcement activity.

Stan was recently recognised with a Public Service Medal in the 2022 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his outstanding leadership in the areas of environmental and social policy, and his work in policy and program delivery.

A lawyer by training, Stan has undertaken post-graduate study (Monash University) and executive education (Harvard Business School, London School of Economics and Cambridge University).

Stan is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration, the immediate past Chair of the Infoxchange Group, and an Alumnus of the Williamson Community Leadership Program.

Dick Clarke

Dick Clarke is principal of Envirotecture, is an Accredited Building Designer with over 35 years experience, focusing exclusively on ecologically sustainable and culturally appropriate buildings, as well as sustainable design in vehicles and vessels, and has received many Design Awards.

Dick worked with the late Dr Chris Reardon and Ms Cecille Weldon on the Liveability Real Estate course, which specifically targeted investor-owner landlords with strategies to help retain good tenants by reducing their utility bills and improving their comfort, at the same time as reducing the environmental footprint of rental properties.

He holds a Master of Sustainable Futures degree (by research at the Institute for Sustainable Futures, UTS), on the topic of the effect of state and local planning instruments on the sustainability of the built environment.

Dick holds Building Designer Accreditation (No. 6029) under the Building Designer Accreditation (NSW) scheme. He is Director of Sustainability, and Past President of the NSW Chapter, of Building Designers Australia (BDA). He is a Past President and Board Member of the Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA).
