No matter if you're a homeowner or a renter, you can make changes to your home to improve it's comfort, reduce energy bills and limit your environmental footprint. With even the smallest effort, there are many simple, inexpensive things you can do to make a difference.

It helps to know which improvements can make the most difference to the comfort and affordability of you home, especially if your home is sweltering hot in summer or icy cool over winter. From draught proofing and heating & cooling to home energy assessment kits, join our panel discussion on how you can improve the liveability of your home while bringing your energy costs down.

Speakers

Rob Murray-Leach

Rob has an extensive background in climate change, energy, transport and sustainability, as an author of the Garnaut Climate Change Review and senior policy expert in the South Australian Government. His academic background from Oxford and Adelaide focused on behavior and sustainability, and he has contributed to a number of texts in this field.

Founding CEO of the Energy Efficiency Council, Rob now leads the Council’s policy and advocacy activities, working with members and governments to inform the development of robust and cost-effective energy efficiency policies and programs in Australia.

Lisa Rime

Lisa Rime (she/her) is an advocate, artist and renter in nipaluna Hobart. Dedicated to her community, Lisa is involved in the Housing Alliance Lutruwita Tasmania, Short of a Sheet, and the Housing With Dignity Reference Group. She has a particular interest in intersectional barriers and inequity, and runs two Facebook groups devoted to building community and sharing resources. Lisa has firsthand experience living with unhealthy rentals, multiple chronic illnesses, and poverty. As such she is practiced at applying resourceful and practical management strategies.

Her design for making DIY rental-friendly friction-fitted double glazing has been published in Renew Magazine and online

Rowan Jamieson

Rowan has been in the community services sector for the last 12 years. Over this period she has worked as a case worker, run an emergency relief service and for the last 8 years have worked in my her current role at Uniting as an Energy Advisor. Through her work, Rowan supports Australians that are struggling with the cost of energy bills with energy efficiency advice, energy literacy and advocacy with energy retailers and landlords.
