Welcome to 'Suzzie and Friends Community Fundraiser" presented by Mzuri Dance Artistree

About "Suzzie and Friends Community Fundraiser"
Learn a simple, fun, low impact 'Afrobeats' inspired dance to share with the African Cultural Music Festival 'Suzzie and Friends' workshop and performance on Sunday 20th November 2022 at Federation Square. No experience necessary. We would just love you to be there and groove with us. (No pressure to perform)

3 x casual dance classes will be held on Monday evenings in Fitzroy 6-7pm.
We finish the program on the Sunday at Federation Square.

This is a fundraiser and for those who can afford to donate to our cause would be greatly appreciated. Our Fundraiser is to raise money for programs for migrant families, young people and women facing disadvantage and barriers to social and economic participation in our local area.

Women of ALL ages are encouraged to come with no previous experience necessary.
Wheelchair access. Please contact us directly if you require access support.

Everyone welcome! We focus on people who identify as women however all genders are welcome. Children/ babies are also welcome to attend.

    Class Dates :

Venue: Florence Peel Centre -  190 Young St Fitzroy
(Corner of Moor and Young - Please note Google Maps takes you a bit further down the road so make sure you look a bit closer and see where Florence Peel centre is - located next to Police Station and opposite Sacred Heart PS)

Alternatively to face to face dancing - you can be provided with a link to watch on YouTube or Vimeo and learn at home or with a bunch of friends. The link will be available in early November and then you can rock up to Sunday 20th Nov with your dancing feet and help us to include the audience in our dance.

Workshop Performance date: Sunday 20th November 10am -12pm at Federation Square

This is a chance for us women (or any gender) to come together and celebrate who we are as women - to free up our bodies with safe and simple dance instruction and connect to each other through the ancient and wise practice of traditional and contemporary music and dance.

A Flexible "Pay what you feel" for the experience and all proceeds go directly to Mzuri Dance ArtisTree Fund, a not for profit local organisation for social and economic change - more info on our Not for Profit Charity here.

The land we live and create on was never ceded and will always belong to the traditional custodians of the land. I pay my respects to the custodians of this land who lived sustainably and looked after the birds, insects, animals, waterways and land, life, earth and her natural resources.  We live on Wurundjeri Country of the Kulin Nation and pay my respects to elders past and present.
