Are you interested in learning more about Eating Disorders?
The Swan Centre South West & MenAble present a FREE information evening for community members and health professionals seeking to gain insights and understanding into the nature, experience and treatment of eating disorders.
The evening will include:
- A conversation with Gabriel (Gabby) Lubieniecki and Shannon Calvert
- Gabby is a Counsellor and Lived Experience Clinician at The Swan Centre
- Shannon is a Lived Experience Educator and Advisory Consultant at Healing Conversations
- Q&A panel with eating disorder professionals, including dietetics, clinical psychology and lived experience workforce.

Gabby Lubieniecki (she/her)
Gabby is a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician and a certified trained Severe and Enduring Anorexia Nervosa Clinician. Gabby offers a person-centred approach and is passionate about working with clients in a respectful, individualised, and holistic manner. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed care principles, and she draws on her clients’ strengths and works with them to explore issues, provide care and support. She offers counselling and therapy for a variety of clientele, with a special interest in severe and enduring eating disorders. Gabby also has experience in perfectionism, anxiety and complex trauma.
Gabby has lived experience of recovering from a severe and enduring eating disorder and draws upon that experience to help people understand the origins of their eating disorder, the purpose they serve and begin to explore life without eating disorder behaviours. She runs peer support groups for those experiencing an eating disorder, as well as their loved ones.
Gabby sits on an ANZAED Committee, was a member of the psychosocial working group feeding into NEDC's 10-Year National Eating Disorder Strategy and was previously the Program Coordinator for Eating Disorder Victoria's world first program for those experiencing severe and enduring eating disorders.
Shannon Calvert (she/her)
Shannon is a lived experience professional, having experienced a longstanding severe, and enduring eating disorder. Shannon is a Consumer Advisor, collaborating with organisations by facilitating person-centered, compassionate - oriented and integrated health care through systemic advocacy, service design, delivery, and evaluation. As a Lived Experience Educator, she consult with clinicians, researchers, and services, providing lived experience insight and perspective to support an understanding for professionals and students during their education and development training (mainly eating disorders, mental health and palliative care specific).
Shannon has presented papers and workshops at local, national and international conferences on topics such as the importance of compassion in treatment; consumer and carer engagement; and her personal lived experience.
Shannon sits on several national and international boards and committees for Eating Disorders, Mental Health, and Palliative Care, most recently on the Board of Directors of Palliative Care Australia and as an Executive member for the Australia New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders.
