About Sweet As:
Sweet As is a heartfelt Australian coming-of-age drama that follows 16-year-old Murra, an Indigenous girl grappling with a turbulent home life in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. After a crisis with her mother, Murra's uncle, a local police officer, intervenes by enrolling her in a youth photography program designed for at-risk teens. Reluctantly, she joins a diverse group of peers—each with their own struggles—and embarks on a transformative road trip through the rugged outback.
Premiering at the 2022 Melbourne International Film Festival, the film has garnered critical acclaim and won multiple awards, including the Crystal Bear at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival.
