Join Asma from @yafasweet_ for a heart-warming community cooking workshop celebrating the flavours, stories, and strength of Palestinian women from Gaza.
During the event, Asma will share a traditional Maamoul recipe passed down through generations, giving you a rare opportunity to experience the rich culinary culture of Gaza.

More than a cooking class, this is a celebration of resilience, hospitality, and heritage. Through hands-on cooking, storytelling, and sharing food, we’ll honour the voices and traditions of women whose kitchens have always been places of care, creativity, and connection - even in times of hardship. Let’s wrap Asma in the warmth of our community, showing her that she is seen, valued, and loved.

When: 13 September (Saturday) 11am to 2pm.

This is a ticketed event - all profits will go to Asma, the Palestinian Chef who is running the cooking class. Morning Tea is included in the cost of your ticket.

Optional: Stay with us after the cooking class to prepare fabric squares towards The Mothers Against Genocide (MAG) Art Project. Your fabric art square will contribute towards a large quilted banner, sending a strong message that mothers on this stolen land condemn genocide, whether against the First Nations peoples here, in Palestine, or anywhere.

We acknowledge that this event takes place on stolen Aboriginal land - land that was never ceded. We pay our respects to the Elders past and present of the Wangal people, and we recognise their ongoing connection to Country, culture, and community. As part of this event, we encourage all participants to "Pay the Rent" - a direct contribution to First Nations-led initiatives as a step toward justice and solidarity. Contributions will be collected by us on the day and forwarded in full to the designated First Nations-led initiative.
