SWELL Holidays Workshop with Penny Lennon - Raffia Weaving

Penny is a passionate fibre and textile artist based on the Gold Coast. She stitches and weaves whenever she can to create wonderful and thoughtful works of art. 

This December come along to Currumbin RSL and immerse yourself in two wonderful workshops, Japanese Sashiko Stitching and Raffia Weaving. 

Raffia Weaving Workshop

Let's sit together and learn to weave a small bowl. This workshop is designed to teach you the foundation skills to create a small bowl. After this you will have the knowledge and skills to weave bigger bowls and baskets.

Penny will show you how to make a starting circle with a simple and strong stitching technique. You will learn how to change colours, how to build and shape your bowl and how to finish off.

All materials provided. We will weave together for 2 hours.

Two workshops times to choose from. Ages 12+

Beginners welcome.

Date: Tuesday 19 December

Times: 2pm to 4pm & 5pm to 7pm (two time slots)

Location: Currumbin RSL on the Deck

Cost: $44 including materials
