Jazz at the Steam and Whistle, Cheltenham, with all-string quartet Swing from Paris.

Swing from Paris are an all-string jazz quartet of violin, guitars and double bass, inspired by the music of the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s.

Known for their tight ensemble sound and virtuosic performances, the group brings a distinctive Parisian flair to vintage jazz and stylish swing. They have performed at major UK and European festivals including the renowned Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois-sur-Seine, and appearances range from BBC TV and radio to the French Embassy at Kensington Palace.

They will be launching their new album, featuring music from the cafés and cabarets of Montmartre to Artie Shaw, Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli and the master of tango Astor Piazzolla.

Steamin' Jazz Club at the Steam and Whistle

Steamin’ is Cheltenham’s newest jazz club, hosted by a collaboration of experienced musicians from across the spectrum of jazz. It aims to offer monthly gigs, taking place at The Steam and Whistle, near Cheltenham Spa railway station.

The club is hosted at the Steam and Whistle, a beautiful Victorian pub opposite Cheltenham spa station (GL51 8NW). The pub has a purpose-built venue space that hosts a variety of music, comedy and creative arts, including Dom Joly’s monthly SpeakeaZy.

Food

The pub has quickly become known for its amazing food. Come early and enjoy the best pizza in town, and stay on for drinks after the gig.

Travel and parking

Situated close to Cheltenham spa railway station, the venue is well served by public transport. The nearest car park is at the station.

Return trains on Wednesdays:

Cheltenham to Stroud run up to 10.15pm.

Cheltenham to Bristol Temple Meads run up to 11pm.
