With the emergence of vibrant going out districts beyond the CBD and across local neighbourhoods, there is an opportunity to re-imagine how we engage with place and local businesses to grow a vibrant and diverse 24-hour economy. Neon Marketplace offers a new virtual meeting place for corporate brands, creatives, producers and government to re-think place and experiences by connecting directly with districts - the new players in the going out economy.

Victoria Moxey, Director of Programs at the Office of 24-Hour Economy Commissioner
Victoria Moxey is Director of Programs at the Office of 24-Hour Economy Commissioner leading place-based economic development programs to support a more vibrant, diverse and safe 24hr economy for NSW. Previously she spent +10 years in advertising and marketing, working for agencies including JWT Argentina and Saatchi & Saatchi.

Michael Rodrigues, Commissioner, 24-HR Economy

Michael is NSW’s first ever 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, having been appointed in April 2021. His sense-defined mission is to bring fun back to NSW and get people off the couch. A passionate advocate for NSW’s 24-hour economy, Michael launched global lifestyle brand Time Out in Sydney in 2007.


Karl Schlothauer, CEO, House of Pocket | VP YCK Laneways
Karl Schlothauer is reshaping Sydney's nightlife. He pioneered small bars like Pocket, Stich, and Button Bar, and co-founded YCK Laneways. YCK, a vibrant example of the district model in action, is a consortium of independently operated retail, hospitality, corporate and entertainment businesses around York, Clarence and Kent Streets.



Amanda Choularton, Director, Organic Food Market
Amanda is a Director of Organic Food Markets, which has run markets and events across Sydney for 30+ years. She has a background in working in major events at SXSW Sydney.
