    Event description

    Hello Herbies,

A (very) belated new year to you all! We so missed our SydHerbs village and are beyond thrilled to be back at it once again for another year.

We are incredibly excited for what 2024 has in store for SydHerbs and are ready to revel in our herby nerdiness together with you.

We are so honoured and privileged to be opening this year with the incredible Dr Leah Hechtman (Phd). Dr Hechtman (PhD) is a force within the scientific academic and clinical arenas; no doubt many of us have read, highlighted and referenced her words along our own academic and professional journeys.

Dr Leah Hechtman (PhD) is a globally respected naturopathic clinician, a revered lecturer and a sought-after keynote speaker. Driven by her insatiable curiosity and a passion for the nexus of science and spirituality, Dr Hechtman (PhD) constantly endeavours to enhance her understanding of medicine. She shares her insights through lectures, events and programs. Widely recognised for her expertise, Dr Hechtman (PhD) receives numerous referrals from specialists and fertility clinics on a global scale.

She will be sparking our curiosities with a unique and engaging talk on: Navigating the Interface: Balancing roles and identity within the clinical Practitioner-Patient dyad.

This intimate conversation delves into the nuanced interplay between professional obligations and personal identity within the clinical setting, focusing on the 'in-between space' that clinicians navigate in their interactions with patients. We'll examine the dynamic boundary where the roles of practitioner, individual, and the intrinsic self converge and diverge. Through an engaging dialogue amongst peers, Leah aims to unravel the complexities of maintaining professional integrity whilst honouring our humanity. Join Leah as we take a reflective exploration of how clinicians can effectively balance these aspects to enhance therapeutic relationships and personal well-being.

The talk will have a few handouts and include interactive and conversational components, so prepare those inquisitive minds of yours.

The event will be held at our usual space, room 3.10 on level 3 at the Surry Hills campus of Torrens University, Sydney.

The talk will begin a little later than our regular programming with a 6:30 arrival time and a 7pm start for Dr. Hechtman to begin. As usual there will be light snacks and refreshments provided.

We cannot wait to see you all there!

    Your SydHerbs Team,

    Vanessa & Amy.
