    Event description

Join us October 27th at 6:00pm for Herbal Medicine Week!

    Hi πŸ‘‹ Herbie,Β

We are very excited to announce that our next SydHerbs event will include two speakers in honour of Herbal Medicine Week running 23rd – the 30th October. Jo Morgan from Jo’s Herbadashery will be presenting on the ins and outs of running a modern-day Apothecary which includes making individualised medicines for the public that often pop in from the street. She will also be sharing her most recent oxymel recipes, which we will have the chance to taste! Following Jo, Linda Bates will be sharing her wisdom on Himalayan Flower Enhancers and Tasmanian Wilderness Essences created by her dear friend, and energetic healer Tanmaya. We will hear stories from the front lines on how these magical medicines can enhance and release the soul in turmoil. And we will be lucky enough to try one or two that will be passed around during Linda’s presentation.Β

Please share this with your fellow Herbies and students who would like to be a part of the SydHerbs and NHAA communities. And don’t forget this is a chance to connect and chat with fellow practitioners, enjoy some snacks, and receive 2 CPE points for your attendance.Β

    BIO’SΒ

Jo Morgan -Β Herbalist, and a maker of potions. www.theherbadashery.comΒ

β€œI’m fascinated with finding sources of healing from nature and the long tradition of herbalism in the western world. The Herbadashery is a modern-day Apothecary where I am pursuing my passion for making traditional herbal remedies. I also source and stock the highest quality liquid and dried herbal medicines which I use to create personalised formulas for my patients. Customers are welcome to come into the Herbadashery to seek free advice for their health needs as I enjoy empowering others in discovering how they can integrate herbal remedies into their everyday life. I remain inspired by my memory of living in Edinburgh, Scotland, and coming across an amazing β€œpharmacy” called Napier’s. Walking into Napier’s opened a new world for me. Alongside pharmaceuticals, were an array of bespoke herbal medicines and ointments made on the premises! This planted a seed within me to one day make my own herbal medicines just as they do at Napier’s”. After realising that corporate accounting wasn’t quite for Jo, she began her studies of western herbal medicine at Nature Care College in Sydney and graduated in 2004. In the years since, she has been in private practice in Waverley and Haberfield, running her Apothecary in Manly, and managing the accounts at The Jocelyn Centre, an established and highly respected multi-disciplinary fertility clinic in Sydney CBD.Β

Jo will be presenting β€œApothecary’s In the Modern Day” from 6:30pm.

Linda Bates -Β Master Herbalist, Reiki Master, Iridologist & Dorothy Hall trained practitioner. www.lindabatesherbalmedicine.com & www.rebootplus.com.auΒ

Linda is a traditional, fourth-generation Herbalist via her mother’s ancestry, and her grandmother, and great-grandmother were herbalists in Northamptonshire in England. Herbs were her early friends during a life of constant moving and digestive difficulties. They were a reason to go walking and exploring new wild places. β€œI loved to sit with them, feel their energies, talk to them and take home the ones that spoke to me”. Her ancestral knowledge is from the Celtic and the Greek lines, known today as European Herbal Medicine. Linda’s earliest teacher was her mother, with her great love of nature, and she found her other teachers later – after arriving in Australia in 1966. Dorothy Hall was one of these and Linda studied with Dorothy for 3 years at her college of Herbal Medicine in Rozelle, where she took a deep dive into Iridology, alongside Herbal Medicine. Linda began her practice in 1985 in Balmain, Sydney, then moved to the upper Blue Mountains in 1991 where she became the Village Herbalist. β€œI began to grow the herbs I loved in my garden and to walk in the wild again to find others, and I made my own medicine from them. I made 111 different fresh plant tinctures to use in my dispensary for my patients. They came as patients, and they came to learn in groups how to use herbs in their daily lives to stay healthy. They came with their emergencies and brought their loved ones. They came to collect their repeat mixes and to collect remedies for their Home First Aid kits – like Respiratory Infection Mixes to keep their children well. These people made me their Medicine Woman. And they taught me that healing only happens with love. Love is the greatest healer. Love your plants and yourself and your patients”. Linda is famous for making fresh plant tinctures for her patients, and more recently the use of Himalayan Flower and Tasmanian Wilderness essences to heal the soul.Β

Linda will be presenting β€œHimalayan Flower Enhancers and Tasmanian Wilderness Essences to open and heal the soul – stories from the front lines” from 7:15pm.
