SYDNEY: Asian Cinema Collective presents: Linda Linda Linda (2005)
Event description
“Like a rat, I want to be beautiful. Because you have a beauty that can’t be reflected in pictures” -sung by Linda, Linda, Linda
In a quiet Japanese town, an unexpected setback threatens an all girl rock band’s performance at the annual school festival. The three remaining band members, Kei (Yu Kashii), Kyoko (Aki Maeda), and Nozomi (Shiori Sekine), struggle to find a new vocalist until they convince the Korean exchange student, Son (Bae Doona) to take on the challenge. Together they form a new band, dedicated to performing a rendition of Linda Linda by The Blue Hearts, rehearsing relentlessly in the days leading up to the school festival. As new friendships form, and the end of the school year nears, Linda Linda Linda is a film about perseverance, friends and the spirit of youth.
