Event description

The Sydney Cantata Project returns to St Barnabas Broadway for an afternoon of glorious Bach, performed on period instruments. Led by conductor Jack Stephens, this concert features acclaimed violinist Matthew Greco as soloist in Bach’s radiant Violin Concerto in E major, BWV 1042.

Alongside this, the ensemble presents two rarely heard Leipzig cantatas: BWV 138 Warum betrübst du dich, mein Herz, a deeply expressive work exploring faith in times of trouble, and BWV 168 Tue Rechnung! Donnerwort, a striking cantata on divine judgement and grace.

Experience the sound world of Bach as he would have known it, in the resonant space of St Barnabas Broadway.
