Event description

Join us on Saturday 27 April 3pm for two exciting cantatas by Bach, one cantata based on the hymn 'Nun danket alle Gott' (Now thank we all our God') and the other featuring an virtuosic organ obbligato which will be performed by Samuel Giddy! This concert showcases two seldom-performed cantatas by J.S. Bach: "Nun danket alle Gott, BWV 192, and "Wir müssen durch viel Trübsal (We must [pass] through great sadness), BWV 146. In addition, the cantatas will feature the Hauptwerk organ at St Francis of Assisi, enabling the organ's sound, tuning and temperament to be the same as Bach would have written in Leipzig.

Highlighting the talents of some of Australia's finest period instrument specialists and soloists, this event offers a thrilling chance to experience the beauty of rarely heard church cantatas of Bach.
