Join us to co-design a national humanitarian scholarships framework 

Humanitarian/sanctuary scholarships have supported people seeking asylum and refugees into higher education for over a decade, with 26 universities now offering some form of access. Yet without consistent tracking, we know little about their real impact on retention, wellbeing, completion and employment outcomes — leaving universities investing heavily without a shared way to measure success.

Join Refugee Education Australia and Associate Professor Lisa Hartley (Curtin University) to co-design a national framework for humanitarian scholarships. Together we'll work toward nationally consistent definitions, eligibility criteria, selection processes, baseline supports and evaluation measures.

In this workshop, you'll help: define meaningful indicators of student success beyond retention (wellbeing, belonging, financial security, employment pathways); examine how scholarship conditions and support models shape student experiences and outcomes; identify institutional variations and implications for best practice; and draft evaluation priorities to inform a future national study.

 Sessions run in Sydney (29 September), Melbourne (7 October), Perth (21 October) and online (29 October).

Participation is limited (except for the online option) and priority will be given to representatives of different institutions.
