The Orange Regional Conservatorium is proud to be once again partnering with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for a weekend of concerts, masterclasses, workshops and more!

The Sydney Conservatorium of Music are bringing their illustrious Chamber Orchestra and Directors, Andrew Barnes & Timothy Kantor to Orange the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of September.

The Orchestra will be performing alongside ORC ensemble in our annual Spring Breeze Concert on the Saturday, and will feature former ORC student Dylan Roberts as soloist for the Weber Bassoon Concerto. On Sunday they will be presenting their own concert featuring works by Copeland and Haydn.

As part of the weekend, we are very fortunate to for SCM staff and students to be offering the following educational experiences for Orange’s advancing young musicians- 

Saturday 21 September 

9:00am - 12:00pm | Opportunity for Individual Lessons
 An opportunity wind and brass students to have a lesson with current Sydney Con students, get tips and tricks from some of the countries finest young musicians! Open to the following instruments - 

• Bassoon
• Oboe
• Clarinet
• Flute
• Trumpet
• Horn

10:30am - 11:30am | Violin Masterclass with Timothy Kantor (Senior Lecturer in Violin, Sydney Conservatorium of Music) 
Receive performance and technical feedback, advice and tips from one of Australia’s preminant string educators. Perforce for advanced violinists considering tertiary studies. Spaces are limited! So book in now! 

12:00pm - 1:00pm | Information Session ‘Studying music at tertiary level' 
Are you thinking of studying music at a tertiary level? Then come along to this informative session presented by Sydney Conservatorium staff! Learn what it takes and what to expect to apply to one of the most prestigious music institutions in Australia. 

1:30pm-3:00pm | OYO Rehearsal
SCM staff and students join in for the regular Saturday Orange Youth Orchestra rehearsal to work with the group of their current repertoire. (Non-OYO members are welcome to observe the session)

Sunday 22 September

10:00am - 11:00am | Wind Workshops
A a rare collaborative and educational experience for regional wind and brass musicians, join with SCM staff and students for an hour of tips, techniques and more.

11:00am - 12:00pm | Chamber Academy/SCM Chamber Orchestra Side by Side rehearsal
Open to ORC Chamber Academy students and Wind Workshop participants, this session will put you right in the middle of the Sydney Con’s acclaimed Chamber Orchestra for a side-by-side rehearsal
