Sydney Electronic Music Open Mic Night

Event Details:

- Time: Doors open @ 6.30, first act 7:00 PM, last act 10:00PM, doors close @ 10.30.

- Venue: Mothership Studios,24 Sydney St Marrickville (NB this is a BYO event)

- Entry: $10 or 'pay what you can'

September EMOM is Ambient/Drone/Kosmiche themed.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We will have a different layout and seating arrangement this time. Inspired by Phil Smart's Sound Bath and other similar events at Mothership recently there will be big floor cushions in the main space, but we suggest BYO cushion or yoga mat so you can fully lie back relax and let the sound wash over you. There will be a lounge area to the side with seating for those that can't do floor.

For this night only, performers will have 20 minute sets instead of the usual 15, with no gaps between acts and an interval for leg stretching etc at the halfway point. We won't be having an MC and the usual interview chats, in fact talking will be discouraged altogether to allow you to really focus on experiencing the sounds.

About EMOM:

EMOM is an inclusive and dynamic event showcasing Sydney's electronic music creators. From established artists to bedroom experimentalists, EMOM welcomes musicians to share their ideas and music in a supportive and engaging environment. The event aims to foster a sense of community among electronic music makers and enthusiasts, encouraging collaboration and creativity. Performers each have a 15 minute slot in which they can present music, talk about production techniques, demonstrate a favourite piece of gear.. whatever they think might be interesting to a like-minded audience.

What to Expect:

- Diverse Performances: Experience a wide range of electronic music genres, from ambient to techno to experimental, or synthwave, electro, berlin techno... you never know at an open mic.

- Inclusion: We're committed to giving people from all walks of life their 15 minutes on stage and the venue is accessible and LBGTQIA+ friendly.

- Community Vibes: Meet fellow electronic music enthusiasts, network with other artists, and enjoy a night of sounds and socialising.

- Open Slots: Although we are technically an open mic, it's a bit different due to the amount of work involved in getting an electronic act on stage. We ask that performers register their interest in advance at https://sydney.emom.me/perform, and then in the week before each night we choose 8 acts that represent the most diverse variety of styles for the lineup. We don't advertise who's performing in advance, to help keep the 'lucky grab bag' feel of a true open mic. You don't know what you're going to get but we hope you'll find someone new to fan on!

- Door Prizes! (subject to availability) not that we're trying to bribe you to come or anything but we've had some great door prizes from Turramusic and friends including mixers, DI boxes, MPCs, samplers, you name it. What will it be next month? You'll have to be there to find out! (NB winners are required to return and perform with their prizes lol no jk - but some of them have and that's super cool!)
