Event description

The Sydney Neurotech Meetup is a casual evening of conversation with Sydney's truly impressive collection of neurotech startups, researchers, investors and collaborators.

Join us at 6pm on Tuesday the 25th of February for a conversation about Neuralink and the future of brain interfacing.

The upcoming meetup we are excited to be bringing a special guest from one of the most talked about companies in the history of neurotech. Neuralink are industry trailblazers shaping up to be one of the most influential companies of the decade, pursuing their vision of the future in which brain computer interfaces can be easily implanted to restore critical function in people with severe disabilities – and possibly one day to augment function in healthy individuals. For our next event, Luke Gordon will be joining us to discuss his career journey to Neuralink, the research the company is leading and what the future has in store for us.

Agenda

Guest Speaker

Luke Gordon is a Neuroscientist and Study Director at Neuralink

Luke Gordon is a neuroscientist and Study Director at Neuralink, where he specializes in developing brain-computer interfaces to assist people with paralysis and neurodegenerative disorders. His work plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of innovative brain-computer interface and surgical robotics technologies. Before joining Neuralink, Luke was a Ph.D. researcher and entrepreneur in the biomedical engineering sector. His doctoral studies focused on photobiomodulation, a technique that utilizes light to slow the progression of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. As an entrepreneur, he successfully led teams to transition technologies from initial research stages to commercialized medical products, including spearheading rapid development and production of PPE during the COVID-19 pandemic
