Description
Welcome to Psychedelic Speed Dating, a not-for-profit event hosted by the Australian Psychedelic Society designed to skip past the surface and go straight to how people actually think, create, and connect.
Despite the name, the evening is strictly drug-free, well, mostly (coffee, booze, and cigarettes still welcome). Instead, we’re using environmental architecture, physiological synchrony, and a bit of neuroscience to give you the absolute best scientific chance at sparking a real connection.

The Format
Our platform dynamically pairs you for a series of curated, one-on-one mini-dates. Choose your age bracket below. You can arrive strictly for your scheduled session, or just rock up early to mingle under the night sky.
4:40 pm: Psychedelic Speed Friending (Ages 18+)
Want to expand your conscious circle? This session is strictly platonic, pairing up to 20 people across 10 tables to find new friends, future co-creators, or community allies.
6:30 pm: Speed Dating (Ages 35–55)
Looking for romance? A dedicated singles matchmaking session for up to 20 people looking for potential partners.
8:20 pm: Speed Dating (Ages 35–55)

Either way, you’ll have the epic Lansdowne rooftop, a few left-field icebreakers to take the pressure off, and full permission to be a bit weird in public. Think stroboscopic sessions, rooftop ping pong, and an on-hand dating coach. No pickup lines required.

The Fine Print
Entry: The venue reserves the right to refuse entry based on intoxication or conduct policies.
Format Balancing: We reserve the right to cancel and refund tickets if necessary to maintain balanced age and gender numbers for the speed-dating format.
Safety Note: If you have a history of photosensitivity or epilepsy and want to partake in the stroboscopic sessions, please flag this to the organisers.
Weather: Because this takes place on the open rooftop, it is weather-dependent. If it rains, the event will be rescheduled and tickets refunded in full.
Cancellations: No refunds for cancellations made with less than 72 hours' notice.

Lineup
Your matchmaker
Jay Katz (Jaimie Leonarder) is a fixture of Sydney's underground culture: musician, archivist, social worker, film critic, radio announcer, and DJ. Before the cult persona, he trained as a general and psychiatric nurse and worked in welfare as a youth worker and diversional therapist, managing the Hurstville C.Y.S.S. centre. He formed the experimental noise rock band Mu Mesons (1982–1999), co-founded the reel-to-reel tape outfit The Loop Orchestra, co-hosted SBS's The Movie Show (2005–2006), hosted The Naked City on FBi Radio, and was the subject of the documentary Love & Anarchy: The Wild Wild World of Jaimie Leonarder.
