Description

Sydney Film Screening & Discussion

We are teaming up with our legendary friends at Yulli's to bring you a special evening of film and conversation exploring the cultural and ecological importance of Australia's Dingo.

Doors open at 5.30 with food and drinks available for purchase. The films will kick off at 7pm sharp.

This intimate screening will feature two powerful short films: Moort: Calling Dingo Back to Country and Wooleen: Utilising Dingoes as a Management Tool, followed by a discussion and audience Q&A.

With only 30 places available, this is a unique opportunity to experience these films in a small-group setting and connect with others passionate about wildlife conservation and coexistence.

Moort: Calling Dingo Back to Country

Moort: Calling Dingo Back to Country is a powerful short film that explores the deep cultural, spiritual and familial relationship between First Nations people and the Dingo.

Across south-west Western Australia, Moort means family—and that is what Dingo is: kin.

The film highlights the enduring relationship between Cultural Custodians and Australia's only wild canid, while revealing the profound loss felt in places where Dingoes have been eradicated through widespread killing programs. Even where they are physically absent, Dingoes remain present in Songlines, stories and spirit—and the call for their return continues to grow.

As attitudes around the world shift toward recognising the ecological importance of apex predators, Moort invites audiences to consider Australia's own path forward.

Wooleen: Utilising Dingoes as a Management Tool

Following Moort, we'll screen Wooleen: Utilising Dingoes as a Management Tool, a short documentary highlighting the experiences of pastoralists who are embracing coexistence with Dingoes.

Filmed at Wooleen Station in Western Australia's rangelands, the film explores how retaining Dingoes on Country has contributed to healthier ecosystems, reduced grazing pressure, and supported regenerative land management. It offers a compelling real-world example of how apex predators can play an important role in restoring ecological balance.

Discussion & Audience Q&A

Following the screenings, stay for a discussion and audience Q&A exploring the cultural, ecological and practical dimensions of living alongside Dingoes.
