Event description

Come and celebrate Refugee Week with us at our Stories of Power Short Film Festival at the Playhouse Theatre at NIDA School of Dramatic Art in Kensington. Watch films featuring talented refugee and migrant artists and entrepreneurs, such as Racha Syrian Kitchen, Chef Aheda Amro, Erkmen Savaskan, Emmanuel Asante, RJ Dradi the Label, Misagh Zamani and Rue Liew.

We will also be showing short films made by filmmakers from culturally diverse backgrounds- Chenda by Emie Roy, Yaroun by Zeinab Mahfoud and A Mango Is Shaped Like A Heart by Mariam Arcilla.

There will be delicious Syrian and fusion canapes to be served before the screening (included in the ticket cost), and a panel featuring some of the film stars at the end of the screenings.

You can also donate an extra $5 to RACS Australia, the charity providing free legal support to people seeking asylum.

See you all on June 27!

This event is proudly sponsored by the Randwick City Council, UNSW and Navitas Skilled Futures

*Welcome Merchant is a social enterprise that collaborates with refugee-owned businesses in Australia. We promote them for free on our online directory and social media channels. We also run free skill building workshops for these entrepreneurs. Your ticket purchase will go a long way to helping refugees and people seeking asylum.
