Event description

This is not just a film; it's a wake-up call.

A powerful documentary unlocking the stories which can change lives for young people experiencing domestic and family violence.

Safe Steps in partnership with CABL (Community Action for Better Living Inc), Canada Bay Council and West Tigers  invites you to the Sydney screening of this impactful documentary that raises awareness of how we must better support young people experiencing or afraid of domestic and family violence - to ensure no more young people fall through the gaps.

We are pleased to have Kristy Drower and Miranda Moir as key speakers for this event.

Kristy is a motivational speaker for domestic abuse, she is a NLP practitioner and timeline therapist helping victims of abuse heal from trauma. Kristy uses her experience to advocate for domestic abuse awareness by sharing her personal story of 20 years of domestic abuse and her healing journey while working collaboratively with organizations such as NSW Police, Catholic Care, Catholic Archdiocese, News, Domestic Violence services, and NSW schools, as well as her proven leadership qualities, have equipped her to be a committed leader who successfully drives conformity, quality, and performance in the field of domestic violence awareness healing and empowerment.

Miranda Moir is a social worker with over twenty years’ experience working with child and adult victim survivors as a practitioner, therapist and policy maker. Miranda led the development of  a domestic violence informed and child centered practice framework for the NSW child protection system and led a variety of initiatives within the NSW Department of Communities and Justice to center the voices of children in the context of domestic violence practice. Over the last year Miranda has supported CCWT and DCJ in their statewide roll out of coercive control legislative training to the sector; and has carried out a partnership with ANROWS in developing a framework for centering the experience of children subjected to coercive control.

Unanswered Calls offers the audience a glimpse into the experiences of the often overlooked stories of Australia's youngest victim-survivors of family violence - young people. For the countless voices that have gone unheard, this film confronts the silence that has long hidden their experiences.

We look forward to seeing you there.
