Australian Dance Party are in the process of creative exploration in the development of a new site-specific episodic dance work, titled Symbiosis set amidst the Botanic Gardens.

Symbiosis: In development, features choreography by Elizabeth Cameron Dalman OAM and ADP artists in collaboration with Somebody’s Aunt, cellist Alex Voorhoeve and poet Melinda Smith.

About the work: The human species are awakening to the volatility of the natural world in the age of the Anthropocene. Symbiosis draws from plant and human biology to invite a crucial reflection on the human-ecological relationship through an embodied study of three types of symbiosis; parasitism, mutualism and commensalism.

Through choreography, music and somatic and sensory experience, ‘Symbiosis’ re-positions the human as a part of nature, and within it, the response-ability we hold in guiding these fragile relations.

Experienced as a ‘tour’, audiences adventure in groups to not just witness, but to collectively move, sense, be ‘with’ the work and its themes, immersed in the environment around them.
