Description

Symbiotic Marathon Circuit Training is an exercise program for the future.

#PUMP4FUTURE. Join Merinda Davies and Guy Ritani in a speculative workshop exploring breath, movement, oration, imagination, and writing as pathways into somatic and relational intelligence.

We will stretch and flex our imaginations and become breathless together, as awareness training of our messy entanglements, mutualistic relationships & collective responsibilities with other beings.

This workshop may include movement, writing, drawing, listening, smelling, touching. Everyone is invited, everything is optional, no experience in dance/writing/drawing etc is required & access options are available. To keep the workshop intimate, capacity is limited.

Facilitators

Merinda Davies (b.1991, Bundjalung Country NNSW, lives and works from Kombumerri Country SEQLD) is an artist, performer and designer, investigating how we might thrive rather than merely survive within the realities of ecological collapse. At the core of her practice is a commitment to sensory and sensual intelligence as a foundation for relationality, between humans, other-than-human beings, and the landscapes we co-inhabit. She creates installations, videos and performances that ask how we might reorient ourselves within the present through speculating on future worlds.

Guy Ritani ia/they/them is a proud takatāpui Māori artivist climate justice advocate & food sovereignty organiser across Oceania. They whakapapa to Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Ngāti Koata, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngai Tahu & Macnamara. Guy’s ceremonial & ritualised practice centres indigenous sovereignty & cultural complexification with queer & joy based praxis. They are currently exploring he taonga ihi orooro/treasured cultural vocalisation, whakairo/traditional carving, collective storytelling & systemic-technology play. These, along with climate justice organising, food systems localisation & conflict resolution underpin Guy’s creative & regenerative practice.

This is a free event, and all are welcome to attend, engage and explore, respectfully.
