    Event description

The SACWA State Handicraft Committee is running another workshop for the 2024 National Science Week, made possible by a grant from Inspiring SA.

Come along and learn about Tessellations and how shapes can be joined together without gaps or overlaps. Using the quilting technique of English Paper Piecing you can make your own quilted coaster using hexagons and half hexagons.

Learn about how different shapes can be joined together, either 1 shape, or a number of shapes to make beautiful patchwork pieces. Learn about the Dutch Artist, Escher, who utilised mathematical concepts to create pieces of art.

You will be provided with a kit which will contain all you need to make your own tessellated coaster.

BYO Lunch, morning and afternoon tea supplied. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
