Matthew Cook / Lakeshore (https://linktr.ee/mdcook) founded WYWS in 2017, focusing on the underground DIY electronic scene in Brisbane, Australia. Operating as both a record label and synthesizer manufacturer, Matt has released over seven projects under aliases Lakeshore and MD Cook.
Lee Brackenborough (https://elktung.bandcamp.com/album/note-to-self) is a multi-instrumentalist and multidisciplinary artist, the leader of Elktung, and a contributor to Big Dead. As a DIY synth maker, Lee delivers mind-bending performances on his modular system.
Substation (https://wyws.bandcamp.com/album/yallourn) is the moniker of Hamish Hill, having released both the Yallourn EP (WYWS005) in 2017 and Zodiac Man - Idios Kosmiche LP (WYWS012) in 2019. Since then he’s vastly expanded his collection of 80s Korg oddities and is endlessly recoding for the future.
Sonny O'Brien / Helioscene (http://helioscene.com) incorporates found sounds and field recordings that evoke a sense of impending doom for both living beings and places affected by cataclysmic climate events. Each track showcases the artist's exceptional talent for crafting intricate melodies and incorporating organic poly-rhythms, resulting in captivating ambient compositions. With a professional background as a sound designer, Helioscene's debut album demonstrates a genius ability to create a cohesive musical palette that is thematically rich, emotionally resonant, addictive, and meticulously designed.
