TAKING OFF - TALES OF OLDER WOMEN WHO SURF DOCUMENTARY WORLD PREMIERE
Event description
It’s interesting that when women hit their 50s, we run the risk of feeling invisible, of disconnecting from society, or sometimes, even losing jobs because we’re told we’re too old. We begin to wonder where we fit in the world. For many of us, our kids leave home, and without the immediate responsibilities of parenting, we can feel lost. Others of us find ourselves sandwiched between caring for our kids and our ageing parents. The impacts on our self-esteem and self-confidence, is very real.
Taking Off : Tales of Older Women Who Surf tells the stories of six women aged 59-72 who surf on Queensland's Gold Coast. They have each come to surfing for wildly different reasons and they surf at a variety of levels.
This
documentary goes beyond surfing. it will stir, inspire and help you see
how you can live into your dreams - whatever they are - and take off.
The film uses surfing as a metaphor about what’s possible as we age, and we offer it to older women all around the world with love and solidarity.
As you watch this, think of the dreams that you haven’t yet lived into, and let these women who are now living into theirs, remind you, that your time is now. Use this as your springboard and inspiration, to pursue your own dreams and passions. As this film tells their stories of taking off, let yourself fly again.
