"GeoRegion - GeoWonder" Talk by Dr Peter Mitchell OAM + afternoon tea
Event description
Learn about the wonders of the Ku-ring-gai GeoRegion which extends from Ku-ring-gai national parks to the Northern Beaches' bushland and aquatic reserves.
Dr Peter Mitchell OAM will describe the GeoRegion (440 km2) and why Friends of Ku-ring-gai Environment (FOKE) is championing this important environmental project that aims to identify and interpret a GeoRegion across the northern suburbs and northern beaches.
This fascinating geological project aims to ‘sign post’ the natural and cultural heritage of Ku-ring-gai.
The talk is the summative activity that brings together FOKE's three prior GeoRegion walks to Long Reef, Sheldon Forest and Bicentennial Park.
Dr Peter Mitchell OAM is the former Associate Professor and Head of Department of Physical Geography at Macquarie University.
Learn more about FOKE's GeoRegion project by reading the 2022 Linnaean Society review paper.
Following Dr Peter Mitchell's talk is an invitation to join Ku-ring-gai Environment (FOKE) for afternoon tea at the Roseville Uniting Church.
