About the webinar

This 90-minute online webinar is designed for parents and carers who want to better understand how spinal cord injury can impact their child’s sexuality, relationships, and sexual function.

The session primarily targets parents and carers of teenagers but is relevant for those with children of any age. It responds to families' requests for guidance and information, providing a candid space to discuss fostering healthy sexual development and learning about accessible sexuality.

Developing a healthy sexual identity is linked to positive adjustment after spinal cord injury. Many parents and carers feel unprepared for conversations about accessible sex education; attending this webinar will enhance your confidence to discuss these topics with your young person.

About the presenter

Candice Care-Unger (she/her) has a dual professional background. Candice is an experienced specialist social worker with a demonstrated history of working in hospital & community spinal cord injury rehabilitation settings for the past 18 years across Sydney, Rural NSW, Brisbane, Scotland and New York. She is also a Clinical Psychosexual Therapist and the NSW Branch President of the Society of Australian Sexologists (SAS), as well as an award-winning clinician-researcher with numerous peer reviewed publications.

Candice has post graduate qualifications in sexual health and reproduction, a Masters in Public Health and a Bachelor of Social Work from University of Sydney.

Candice is located in Forster NSW, and provides virtual services across Australia.
