Talmud You Should Know: The Art of Blessing
Description
What are the pieces of Talmud that everyone should know? When Brandeis Professor Jon Levisohn posed that question to leading rabbis and scholars, they came back with a list of 66 sugyot (Talmudic passages) that capture the brilliance, strangeness, humor, arguments, and big questions of the Talmud.
Join Lehrhaus co-founder Rabbi Charlie Schwartz as he attempts to teach his way through all 66, one passage at a time. Along the way, we'll encounter everything from profound ethical dilemmas to bizarre rabbinic debates, ancient legal puzzles, and stories that are still surprisingly relevant today.
Will we make it through all 66? Eventually. Will we have fun along the way? Absolutely.
This week's passage: The Art of Blessing (Berachot 35a)
No Talmud experience necessary. All backgrounds welcome. Come for one class or all 66!
