Furniture Restoration and Repair Community Day, Tamahere's St Stephen's Church Hall, Saturday 29 March 11am-4pm
Event description
Brought to you by the Waste Levy Fund!
We are holding a furniture repair and restoration day in Tamahere.
Come and get your creaky or cracked furniture repaired and learn about furniture restoration under the guidance of a furniture restoration specialist at our community repair-cafe style event! No more squeaky chairs!
The day begins with an engaging 45-minute talk and demonstration of repair and restoration techniques with our experienced furniture restorer.
Following this, there will be 4 hours of repair/restoration time where participants can work on their furniture with the help of our specialist.
We cover health and safety and provide the information people need to know to do their repair (with assistance).
You will learn about:
How to repair breaks, cracks, splits, and bora. You can have a go at helping restore a furniture piece (or begin a restoration of your own).
We will go through all the tools and products too. This will be a fun and interesting community day. If you love seeing furniture return to being beautiful and functional then this is the day for you.
Plus we will cover information about the 4 stages of wooden furniture restoration: Strip/ Sand/ Stain/ Seal.
Repairs that can be done: Cracks, Splits, Bora, Loose joints. We can also help you begin the restoration process on furniture too.
This furniture may need to sit while the glue dries for a few hours, with a pickup time at the end of the day.
