PEPA aims to improve health professionals’ knowledge, skills and confidence in the palliative approach to care and end of life care.

Program Objective:

PEPA aims to improve health professionals’ knowledge, skills and confidence in the palliative approach to care for people with a life-limiting illness.

The workshops are interactive and provide time for discussion through case presentations and examples (some aspects of the program may change due to circumstances beyond our control).

Intended workshop audience: ALL nurses throughout HNELHD sector, regardless of setting or knowledge of a palliative approach to care.

Aim of workshop: Develop an understanding of a palliative approach for people with a life-limiting illness and their families.

Topics include: principles/models of palliative care, goals of care and recognising dying, clinical assessment and symptom management, communication, self care, overview of PEPA and placement opportunities.
