Tangaroa's Gift
Event description
Tangaroa’s Gift: A Community Celebration of Movement, Story and Sea
This October, join us at Hakaru Hall for a magical performance of Tangaroa’s Gift, brought to life by local tamariki aged 5–12. Through movement, music, and storytelling, our young performers will take you on an imaginative journey beneath the waves—celebrating the ocean, Te Ao Māori values, and the beauty of self-expression.
Directed by Jenny Sharp and co-directed by Danielle Conghan, with production by Juno Scott-Kelly, this vibrant community event is the culmination of weeks of creative workshops exploring dance, sound, and character. With ocean-inspired choreography, improvised sea soundscapes, and heartfelt narration, the show promises to be a joyful and moving experience for all ages.
Perfect for families, friends, and anyone who loves community theatre, Tangaroa’s Gift is a celebration of creativity, confidence, and connection to the land and sea.
Come and support our young performers—book your tickets now and be part of the magic!
