Event description
Tangaroa’s Gift: A Community Celebration of Movement, Story and Sea
This October, join us at Hakaru Hall for a magical retelling of Tangaroa’s Gift, brought to life by local tamariki aged 5–12. Storytelling through movement and music interpretation, our young performers will take you on an imaginative journey beneath the ocean. Celebrating the ocean, Te Ao Māori values, and the beauty of self-expression.
Directed by Jenny Sharp, co-directed by Dani Conaghan, with production by Juno Scott-Kelly, this vibrant community event is the culmination of weeks of creative workshops exploring dance, sound, and character.
With ocean-inspired choreography, live musicians, and heartfelt narration, the show promises to be a joyful and moving experience for all ages.
Tangaroa’s Gift is a celebration of creativity, confidence, and connection to the land and sea.
Come and support our young performers—book your tickets now and be part of the magic!
