Tango Practica with guests Guanaco Trio

At the Tango Practica on Sunday 10th of March we present our guests Guanaco Trio to perform a live tango set. This is an introduction for Sydney tango dancers to get acquainted to the tango music performed by the Guanaco Trio. It will be a casual and experimental space - a jam session of tango music and dance. The audience is welcome to just listen or to use the dance floor.
We also glad to announce a formal tango dancing event on Wednesday 20 March - Guanaco Trio at Marrickville Town Hall supported by DJ Juan who will be playing golden age tango hits.
This tango set follows on from Guanaco Trio's folkloric performance at Peach Black Gallery on Friday 8th March.
Originating from Buenos Aires, the Guanaco Trio are three musicians from around the world brought together by the folkloric music of Argentina. The trio consists of Laura Urteaga (Catalunya/Argentina) on violin, Benjamín Aedo (Chile) on guitar and our own Australian bandoneonist Owen Salomé. The group has formed to explore the Argentinean folkloric musical tradition, but they will be performing a tango repertoire consisting of tango standards but with their particular interpretation.
Owen Salome: "It would be something like the feeling of being in Buenos Aires late on a Saturday night and going to one of the tango boliches like Sanata and hearing musicians performing intimate versions of tango classics a la parrilla. One of the things I most love about Buenos Aires is being in a party where musicians are performing and people are able to dance and engage with the music in a way that feels very alive and organic, and I would love to share this feeling with the Sydney tango community."
The dance space will be prepared for attendees. Seating will also be provided.
