TEA CEREMONY WITH MISS CAMELLIA TEA

Style of tea preparation:

I will be preparing tea in the Chinese style of ceremony referred to as Gong Fu Cha. "Gong Fu" like "Kung Fu" meaning the art of doing something with time, patience, and skill. "Cha," meaning "Tea."

What to expect:

In the quietude of the tea ceremony, we find a profound reflection of the Tao's wisdom through the lens of this timeless practice.
In essence, the tea ceremony is a microcosm of Taoist philosophy. It provides a tangible and experiential path to connect with the Tao's principles of mindful presence, Wu Wei, harmony with nature, unity, and inner peace. By participating in the ceremony with intention and reverence, you open yourself to a profound opportunity for aligning your inner self with the profound wisdom of the Tao.

In the gentle ritual of Gong Fu Cha, we glimpse the essence of the Tao. The tea ceremony, like life itself, unfolds with grace when we let it flow at its own pace. As we prepare and partake in this ancient art, we are reminded of the profound lessons it offers.

+

Stillness and Mindful Presence: The tea ceremony mirrors the Tao's teachings. As we prepare the tea, we are asked to be fully present, just as the Tao encourages us to embrace the here and now. The act of brewing tea becomes a meditation, a reminder to shed the burdens of past and future and to simply be.

+

Wu Wei: The concept of effortless action comes alive in the ceremony. Each movement, from the careful selection of tea leaves to the delicate pouring of water, is executed with intention but without haste. The tea ceremony teaches us to let things unfold naturally, in harmony with the Tao's flow.

+

Harmony with Nature: In the choice of tea leaves, we honor our connection to nature, echoing the Tao's call for harmony with the natural world. Just as tea leaves are cultivated in balance with the earth, we, too, can seek to live in harmony with the rhythms of the universe.

+

Community and Sharing: The sharing of tea in ceremony with the presence of others embodies the Tao's spirit of unity and compassion. In the act of serving and receiving tea, we form a connection—a shared moment that transcends words. It is a reminder that our journey, like the ceremony, is a communal one, and kindness and unity are its foundations.

+

Inner Calm: Within the silent moments of sipping tea, we find a sanctuary of inner peace, a reflection of the Tao's profound stillness. The Tao is discovered not in complexity but in simplicity. Just as the tea's flavors are revealed through calm and clarity, so too is the wisdom of the Tao uncovered when we quiet our minds.

About Camellia:

Camellia Thistleton, known as Miss Camellia Tea, is on a mission to revive the tea experience.

With a scientific background rooted in neuroscience and a penchant for all things tea and tea culture, Camellia combines her passion for health and wellbeing with science and ritual. Her exploration of tea's regenerative properties coupled with her understanding of sensory experiences (that is, how taste and smell interact with the brain). But it isn't all about sweet aromas or calming brews. It's about understanding the value of connection when sharing with one another and the beauty of communal experiences.

Having recently opened the Little Dream Tea House at 219 Glebe Point Road (located upstairs above the Le Petit Tarte Cafe), you can visit Camellia for tastings, workshops and scheduled tea ceremonies. She is also offering sessions that showcase the art of Gong Fu tea brewing. These sessions provide a deeper understanding of an ancient Chinese tea-making process and a chance to savour the complexities and experience of each brew.

So, whether it's finding the perfect brew, or learning more about the beauty of ceremony and the art of pouring and sipping - Camellia hopes to remind us through tea that sometimes the most profound experiences come from the most simple pleasures.

TAO CALLIGRAPHY TRACING & WRITING WITH MADELINE

Style of meditation activity:

I will be setting up a space for participants to experience writing Tao Calligraphy (one qi flow) with calligraphy water mats and brushes dipped in water, tracing over Master Sha's original writing.

What to expect:

This is an active meditation practice that can reveal our internal nature, and the state of flow versus stagnation within the body. As we write and trace over the calligraphy water mats, we can see how our writing reflects our internal health and where the blockages are. I will be offering specific insights on what your tracing is showing, and how the calligraphy can bring about greater alignment.

This practice creates a space, for us to fine tune the mind into presence and focus, the heart into deeper awareness, forge unity and connection within, and connection to Tao... the source of unconditional resounding love, which can be profoundly transforming.

10 DA BREATHE IN BREATHE OUT WITH MADELINE

Style of meditation activity:

This is an accelerated wellbeing practice based on the principles of breath (pranayama), awareness, intention, openness to receive and the new healing technology of Master Sha's Tao Calligraphy.

What to expect:

As a group, we will connect with a display of 10 Tao Calligraphy artworks, which create a powerful vibrational field that carries the positive messages of Tao Source, known in this particular breathwork session as the 10 Da (10 greatest qualities).

Through the technique of Xi Qing (breathe in) and Hu Zhou (breathe out) in this unique vibrational field, we can transform negative information and energy in our own vibrational field, by absorbing the positive information and energy of the Tao Calligraphy. This can result in positive changes in our lives, health, wellbeing and more.
