TAP-NY Cooking Workshop - Savory Hakka Style Tang Yuan/Glutinous Rice Balls（包心客家湯圓 鹹湯圓）

Join TAP-NY in learning how to make Savory Hakka Style Tang Yuan/Glutinous Rice Balls（包心客家湯圓 鹹湯圓! Hakka savory tangyuan (客家鹹湯圓) are traditionally eaten during the Winter Solstice and sometimes the Lantern Festival, but they’re also enjoyed as a comforting everyday meal.

They are made with glutinous rice dough and may be filled with minced pork and dried shrimp, then served in a savory broth with ingredients like ground pork, fried shallots, garlic, leafy greens, and sometimes mushrooms or preserved vegetables.

Our favorite Taiwanese “A-ma” will be leading this class, so come out for a fun morning of a cooking demo, meeting new people, and most importantly, eating!

Please note: the cooking workshop is group-effort and individual stations will not be provided. The amount of hands-on cooking will vary depending on the dish.

This cooking workshop will be held in Astoria (~30min from midtown). Please be aware that the cooking portion may take at least 2 hours so if you leave early, you may be unable to eat the final product.
