TAPAU LUNCH: A Taste of Home
Event description
Where love and nostalgia are shared over home-cooked goodness perfectly packed in Tupperware.
Remember the notes on the fridge saying "Eat, there's dinner for you"? The quiet way our family said "I love you" through sharing our favourite meals? The taste of home that lingers long after we've left?
TAPAU Lunch invites you to a heartfelt gathering where 10 Asian home cooks whip up their beloved cultural dishes, and we gather to share in the flavours, stories, memories and cultural heritage simmered into every bite.
In the Chinese tradition of "打包" (tapau), we invite you to pack these flavours – and their meanings – into containers to savour now and carry home after.
Join us as we explore how food becomes our cultural anchor in Australia, how a single taste can transport us across oceans, how recipes preserve memories we never want to forget, and how sharing these meals creates new bonds in our adopted homeland.
Get ready to indulge in flavours from Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, India, and more.
Bring your appetite, your stories, and your containers. Take home not just delicious food from across Asia, but a deeper connection to your roots and to each other.
** Don't forget to bring along your reusable container! **
Please email tapauevents@gmail.com if you have any dietary requirements and we will endeavour to cater accordingly.
If you're keen to bring a dish - yes please! Drop us a note at tapauevents@gmail.com.
Deliciously brought to you by Jumbo Productions, Jia Collective & Karen Foote.
